About the Authors

Maurice Peoples, Abram Baker, and James Houston are coauthors of the book Sprint Secrets. They each share a love for Jesus Christ, teaching others, and the sport of track and field. Using these common interests, their diverse backgrounds, and distinct perspectives, they ensured Sprint Secrets related to runners at all levels of performance.
Maurice Peoples has over 35 years of experience as a coach and athlete. He is a former member of the 1972 U.S. Olympic Team and a two-time 400m dash USATF National Champion. During the 1970s, Mr. Peoples was an elite sprinter who was ranked in the top ten for eight years. His background as a former elite athlete, coach, and ordained minister provided the foundation for the principles found within Sprint Secrets.
Abram Baker has 11 years of experience as an unattached track and field athlete. During this time, he researched different techniques to improving speed. As an Air Force officer and U.S. Air Force Academy graduate, he knows the importance of discipline, structure, and training. With this in mind, Mr. Baker constructed the framework, organized the structure, and tested every philosophy described in the book. His input was invaluable to Sprint Secrets relating to runners at different levels of performance.
James Houston is a former defensive back and engineer. During the peak of his athletic career, Mr. Houston was a member of the NAFL National Champion Austin Rattlers. He graduated with a masters degree in engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and is currently pursing a MD-PhD with an emphasis on Orthopedics and Biomechanics. Mr. Houston’s academic background coupled with his athletic accomplishments were critical to the scientific aspects of the book.
